About Me
I am a freelance jazz musician and classroom educator with 10+ years experience in secondary education specializing in instrumental music and music theory. I hold degrees from The University of Rhode Island (BM), Rutgers University (MA), and Fordham University (MSed).
While pursuing a degree in Jazz History & Research at Rutgers University I wrote my thesis titled Victory & Sorrow: The Musical Life of Booker Little. This work has been quoted in several other works including Saxophone Colossus: The Life and Music of Sonny Rollins. This thesis included analysis of several Booker Little improvised solos. I have included those solos as downloads on the Transcriptions tab of this site.
Working in secondary education has been one of the most rewarding musical experiences. I have had the opportunity to work with students of all levels in varied contexts. The Band Charts tab of this website includes free arrangements of warm-ups, original music, and standards for high school ensembles.
